In fact, Dimension Data which performed the study predicts that deployments will grow from 27% to 46% in the next two years. One of the conclusions that Forrester makes in the article also resonates with us…  “New applications, more efficient remote access for mobile devices and quicker time to deploy are driving organizations to question whether deployments always need to be in-sourced and on-premise. Organizations are increasing their investments in cloud-hosted and managed applications and infrastructure services across most domains.” SterlingDESKTOP™ – as we like to call it – or desktop virtualization, VDI, or thin-client computing depending on your camp, while poised for strong growth, does need to be carefully managed and executed.  Managing deployments and ongoing servicing may not be in an organization’s best interests, if the true business benefits are to be realized. Desktop migration cycles along with the growing use of cloud-based applications, however, make virtualizing the desktop a timely proposition, so be sure to seek an experienced partner.
