What Does a Colocation Service Provide? (cont.)

Cost Savings. Housing servers and hiring technical expertise is expensive. Priced out individually, the services of the technicians and the extra space needed to store data equipment are typically higher for an individual company than they are if the services are obtained through a colocation service. Because the colocation services have already agreed to terms and either purchased or leased a building, and hired their own technicians, the charges are spread out amongst individual companies and thus are much lower than any individual company would pay.

Improved access. Colocation services contract with high-end providers for Internet access at the fastest speeds available, and back up their systems with 24-hour monitoring to provide nearly 100% uptime. When it comes to accessing your websites or your databases, whether by your staff or your customers, the services of a colocation provider will give you reliable data access.

Security. In addition to in essence the pooling of resources across a wide spectrum of companies, colocation services also allow small businesses some peace of mind by providing security services for their critical data. Human security is one aspect, but clients of these facilities can also rest assured that their data is also safely stored and routinely backed up.

Colocation services are a good option for any business with mission critical data, including a website, as theses services allow customers to take advantage of aspects of data management that would simply not be feasible on a small scale.

Customer Profile: Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal (cont.)

A broad meadow of flowering succulents creates a rooftop garden.

Green roofs include an amazing tray system that reduces water run off and protects the roof while adding energy efficiency to your building. By shadowing the surfaces of a roof, they reduce heat gain through it by nearly 100%. In addition, a green roof’s soil and vegetation layer absorbs and filters rain, preventing it from quickly becoming runoff from the roof’s surface.

Columbia Roofing's sister company, Columbia Green Technologies, Inc., and their AVRS (Advance Vegetative Roof System) are launching new products in the near future.

Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal supports the community in a variety of ways. From St Francis’s Friar Trot, multiple city little leagues, B’nai B’rith send-a -kid-to-camp, to Monte Shelton NW Classic Motor Rally, they give where ever and when ever they can.  Melanie is Treasurer of the 91 School PTA where her children attend school and ever-present Team Mom of soccer or T ball.

Columbia uses Sterling’s VoIP for their phone and data needs.

"Sterling Communication was a referral from Azimuth Communications,' said Melanie. "When Columbia Roofing & Sheet Metal was much smaller, we shared a facility with Azimuth.  Working in closer quarters earned trust and respect, so when Azimuth recommended Sterling for our communications needs in our new building we knew we were getting quality we could trust."

"Sterling guided us all the way.  It’s not every day that you build a new facility.  Yet, when we did, Sterling was there to walk us through the process of selecting and operating a new communications system.  Their attention to the details made our move painless.  Unlike our previous facility move, when we shut our phones off at our old location, Sterling took our calls at their facility, but more importantly, they had us up and running at our new facility for phone and data needs in less than 4 hours!  Our network was setup before our furniture had arrived."
