  Virus Hoaxes

There are a lot of viruses out there. But some aren't really out there at all. Virus hoaxes are more than mere annoyances, as they may lead some users to routinely ignore all virus warning messages, leaving them vulnerable to a genuine, destructive virus.

Next time you receive an urgent virus warning message, be sure to check the links below of known virus hoaxes.

  Spyware and Adware

Viruses are not the only threat on the Internet to unsuspecting users. Many websites, filesharing clients, and software products install spyware or adware which can track your surfing habits, abuse your Internet connection by sending this data to a third party, profile your shopping preferences, hijack your browser start page or pages, alter important system files, and does this without your knowledge or permission. Most virus scanners do not detect these types of intrusions. The only way to detect and remove these items is to run a Spyware / Adware detection and removal software package specially designed to combat these infections. The links below are companies that specialize in software for this particular purpose. Many of these vendors offer free versions along with purchasable versions that come with support.
